“In 2010, in partnership with A Q Central, CCF began a project to investigate the benefits of a variable speed drive (VSD) compressor. Our air demand across any 24 hour period varied considerably with more equipment running during the day than at night. Without obligation A Q installed data loggers on our existing fixed speed equipment to monitor real time usage across a week period. Using this data A Q then simulated the performance of an appropriately sized VSD unit and calculated the energy saving we could expect over our current kit. This data showed a project payback of less than 2 years and we proceeded with the project on this basis.

A Q managed the complete installation process including positioning, connection, condensate discharge and pipe work. We also took the Atlas Copco supported CoverCare package as part of the deal.Two years in – results have exceeded our expectations. We are making more of a saving on electricity than projected and CoverCare has allowed us to put a fixed compressed air maintenance budget in our business plan for the next 5 years. We also have the piece of mind that we will not encounter any large, unexpected one off costs.”
